diald-0.16-1.i386.rpm (120335) | The purpose of diald is to make it transparently appear that you have a permanent connection to a remote site. Diald sets up a "proxy" device which stands in for the physical connection to a remote site. It then monitors the proxy, waiting for packets to arrive. When interesting packets arrive it will attempt to establish the physical link to the remote site using either SLIP or PPP, and if it succeeds it will forward traffic from the proxy to the physical link. As well, diald will monitor traffic once the physical link is up, and when it has determined that the link is idle, the remote connection is terminated. The criteria for bringing the link up and taking it down are configurable at run time, and are based upon the type of traffic passing over the link. |
diald-config-1.1-1.src.rpm (69121) | An easy way to have a connection to the internet automatically be there when you need it. A high level diald configuration system which allows diald to be configured by editing files containing environment variable assignments. Configures diald so that the X window based diald control program, dctrl, can be used to control and monitor diald. The diald-config-unmetered and diald-config-metered are companion packages which contain sample configurations that can be used "out of the box" to configure diald for management of ppp0. This package does not currently contain a RedHat control panel X windows based utility to configure diald, although the control file is structured to be compatible with such a utility. Please write one and add it to this package. |
diald-config-metered-0.2-1.src.rpm (14265) | Configuration files which configure diald to automatically start and stop the ppp0 interface. These files assume you are using a metered phone service, a charge for each unit of time during which there is a phone connection. |
diald-config-unmetered-0.2-1.src.rpm (14074) | Configuration files which configure diald to automatically start and stop the ppp0 interface. These files assume you are using an unmetered phone service, a single charge to make the phone call and no charges thereafter. |
